Improve scrolling and dynamic backlog fetching behavior

Fixes BR #248, #296

This currently works only you drag the scrollbar by hand.
Scrolling up to the end of the buffer using a mousewheel won't trigger the request for backlog.

Scrolling upwards when no history is available crashes the client.

The scrollbar should scroll down (like it used to do) when new lines are added on the top.
